One-Line Bio

London. New York. Hong Kong. Cherington.

Biography

My sister, Sally and I grew up at number 29 Cherington, as did my father, and my Mum was a child in the village too.

I left the village in 1982, aged 19, to do a business degree at what is now the North Staffordshire University in Stoke On Trent. Not having traveled much, I my career planning centered largely on the self-indulgent idea of figuring out a way to see the world at someone else's expense.

So I moved to London in 1986 to begin a career in international brand management and advertising. I worked throughout Europe and the Middle East from 1987 and 1990, then moved to Hong Kong for six years, popped back to London for a bit in 1996 and moved to New York in 1998, where I live now a stone's throw from the iconic Brooklyn Bridge with my wife, Anne, and our children Charles and Alexandra.

It's been fun, but if I had a penny/dime/yen/remnenbi for every time I have felt homesick for the village over the past 26 years I could probably afford a lot more visits home today.

I decided to build this website just so that I could stay connected to the village.

I hope someone finds it handy.
